Redhawk Productions is a filmmaking and photography company located in Malmö, a town in the southern part of Sweden. While creating and producing many short films on our own, we also offer up our services for hire for weddings, photoshoots, corporate shoots, commercials, music videos and much more. Recently, the company has also branched into producing and financing short films by aspiring filmmakers from the region.
Redhawk Productions was founded by young filmmaker Nils Croné early in the year 2000, who early in his life had a desire to shoot and produce short films in a variety of genres. Nils’ filmmaking began when he got a Lego Studios movie kit for his birthday, which meant he quickly grew an interest of shooting his own short stop-motion animated films.
Later, in early 2002, Nils’ family bought a digital handycam, mostly for documenting holidays. It was quickly adopted by then 12 year old Nils who started to shoot his own short films with it. At first, mostly action and comedy films where the most attractive to film, but eventually his interest grew substantially with the discovery of a then, newly formed, UK-based software company called CSB-Digital (now FXhome). The company had set out to build software for young aspiring filmmakers who wanted to add some visual effects to their home movies. Nils quickly convinced/forced his parents to buy the software package AlamDV2, which Nils then used to create numerous amounts of short films more often than not involving gunfights, swordplay, lightsabers, explosions and more excessive violence. With the years Nils’ continued to mature as a filmmaker and more and more friends became involved in the short films. After moving through a big number of alternatives, Redhawk Productions was finally settled on as the name of the company.
In 2006, Redhawk Productions started working on films outside the company – at first mostly involving post-production, but later also with everything from inital preparations to distribution of short films in southern Sweden. Later the same year Redhawk Productions started working with photography, and during 2007 the company both went corporate and started a commercial service. In 2008 the company worked together with FXhome on their very VFX-heavy short-film Fracture, which is (as of November 2010) soon to be released. In 2010, Redhawk Productions co-produced their first film outside the company, Short Film #21.
