Just over 12 hours ago, I pressed the final DVD for the Harry Spexter premiere which is this Thursday (it will also be shown Friday). It’s been a fun but intense process and it really feels quite great to be done with the project which has been taking up most of my free time since July of this year. The film finally turned out to be just over 30 minutes in length, making it around 50% longer than any of the previous spex films and the second longest film I’ve shot so far and by far the one with the largest amount of visual effects with an action scene of about seven minutes in length.
Prescreening later today for a selected audience of cast & crew members as well as people involved in the spex show. Always a fun experience, and considering I haven’t shown any real footage from the film yet (just a few images) I think it’ll be a blast!
Remember, the film will be shown on December 9th & 10th! Tickets are going very, very fast so visit the official Facebook page or the official website right now and contact the team working with the show.
The film in total consists of close to 200 vfx shots (compared to Zombie Exterminator with 58 and Campsite with 160) but it hasn’t been a real drag to create all the effects. Sure, it took quite a lot of time but in the end, it was by far worth it. Planning to be able to upload some kind of vfx showreel from the project next week after the show is done and dusted. After that, it’ll be nice to take some time off and after that, hopefully working on some projects with not such a stressful deadline. Still planning to upload Harry Spexter eventually to the internet in a slightly revised format, probably early next year.
It was a good experience to shoot the entire film on 7D – it really produces some amazing images but it comes at a price – having to record sound seperately and sync in post was a bit of a pain! But in the end, all was worth it!
Also, was in the UK last weekend with my girlfriend and walked around London for a bit before traveling to Norwich and going to an FXhome Christmas party. Was fun to spend the evening with my old friends, can’t wait to go back there (hopefully very soon)!
Check back tomorrow and on Thursday for some images from the prescreening as well as some images from the preparations for the big show on Thursday and Friday.
Talk to you guys more soon, take care everyone!
