Harry Spexter wraps production!
Nov 2010 22

Finally! Last Friday Harry Spexter finally wrapped production, shooting scenes from early afternoon and onwards to almost midnight. By the evening all footage had also been transcoded to ProRes 422 HQ and we started incorporating it into our final film. As it stands now, the film will be the longest spex film made by us so far, as it weighs in on a rather hefty 29 minutes, approximately. It’s been a really fun shoot and with post-production VFX work just starting we’re rapidly moving towards having a finished film in about a week. I still have some stuff which will be the focus of the upcoming DVD/Blu-Ray and internet release, such as giving it a final grade as well as doing some more advanced compositing, especially during our quite VFX-heavy opening scene.

The film also features a pretty big cast, and is probably the most involved film I’ve done so far in terms of planning and organizing. It really was a good experience to have worked as 1st AD on Short Film #21 earlier this summer, as Harry Spexter was shot completely out of sequence. Seeing how it looks in the rough cut though, I think we managed to pull off a pretty comprehensive story, having almost no internal jokes which hopefully will make the film appeal to a much bigger audience.

Currently I’m planning a small horror shoot at Skurups Folkhögskola as well. Schedule really is packed at the moment, which means I’ll have to do some compromising of the same film. Overall though, it feels good to be back in school and be able to step back from the spex film during the day, which also grants some perspective on the overall project.

But now I’m back to enjoying our horror film music lessons, which resumes in just a couple of minutes!

Take care everyone!
