Last day to vote for Campsite in the FXhome Awards 2010!

Nils Croné | 28 March, 2010 | 11:22 pm

The deadline for voting on the nominations in the FXhome Awards 2010 are coming to a close, with the voting process being closed tomorrow, on Monday the 29th! As you may have seen, I shot a video as I will be presenting an award during the ceremony this Thursday, so stay tuned either here or on FXhome for the awards film come this Thursday! Until then, here are some pictures from the pretty over-the-top awards film I shot last weekend and which is now awaiting its release. It’s almost two minutes long and features some pretty epic overacting if I may say so myself. ;) Click the images for a larger version!

Thanks again to the awesome crew last weekend! So, again, if you haven’t already, please go over to the FXhome Awards page and vote for Campsite to win for Best Special Effects! There are some really cool prizes involved, which would help tremendously with future filmmaking on this kind of budget :)

Take care everyone! Speak to you more soon with some more details on the SpexArn DVD and internet release!

EDIT: Voting is now closed, keep your fingers crossed!

Today’s project: FXhome Awards 2010 video

Nils Croné | 20 March, 2010 | 4:25 pm

As I’m to present an award during the upcoming FXhome Awards 2010, I decided to shoot a small film for it, instead of just a regular presentation video. It’s “a bit” over the top, but it was a very fun shoot with an awesome crew! Check out the video when it’s released on April 1st (no joke!). A picture of the entire crew below: Me, Fredrik Steffen, Anton Persson and Jakob Attin! Awesome job guys!

Check back soon for more images, and remember to vote for Campsite to win Best Special Effects in the competition! Take care everyone, speak more soon!

Campsite nominated for Best Special Effects!

Nils Croné | 15 March, 2010 | 11:06 pm

Hey everyone! Came back from Thailand last Thursday, and after a small downtime on the website, which you may have noticed, everything is now up and running at full speed again! But that’s not the biggest news!

Campsite was just shortlisted for Best Special Effects in the FXhome Awards 2010!

Quite awesome news that people actually voted for the film. Campsite being shortlisted means it’s now one of the five films nominated for the award. The votes are reset from this day, and the voting will continue until the 29th of March! Go over there and vote for the film right now, and check out my previously published topic on FXhome concerning the making of the film, or go to Vimeo to check out a Before/After comparison video - which is on its way to be uploaded in much higher quality right now!

So some awesome news up front are met with some more tepid news at the end of the post. My latest film SpexArn’s internet release date is delayed for one or two weeks. This was a result of some distribution problems, which are now sorted. The film will go up for sale very soon on DVD, and it will be DVD exclusive for a couple of weeks before its internet premiere, which has been moved to April 2010! What I will upload soon though is some production stills from the movie as the release date approaches.

Take care everyone, and go to FXhome and vote for Campsite! Would be awesome! Speak more soon!

Campsite: For your consideration

Nils Croné | 8 March, 2010 | 3:12 am

Just posted a topic on FXhome which has some insight into how Campsite was made - partly for promotional reasons, but mostly to help out! It’s a pretty long article, but you can check it out by clicking the link below! Among other things it includes the entire film’s screenplay, some visual effects breakdowns and much much more!

FXhome Topic: “Campsite: For your consideration”

Hope you like it! :)

About to watch the Oscars right now at the hotel in Thailand - due to the massive time difference it’s actually early in the morning here so I won’t have to stay up all night as usual to catch it! Speak more soon!

Stay tuned as I might create a new post and live-blog the Oscars :)

Around the world, Campsite, SpexArn, Exposed…

Nils Croné | 7 March, 2010 | 2:29 am

Hey everyone! Writing this from the other side of the world, in Hua Hin, Thailand! I’ve had a great vacation so far - the weather’s really amazing and it was great to get away from that freezing cold weather in Malmö for some time. It’s always interesting to visit another, completely different culture as well. Still planning to go see some thai boxing some day, as well as a tour out somewhere to see for example the elephant village. Staying here until Thursday, and while it’s a bit of a downer to go home it’s going to be a lot of fun to meet friends again! Also, have to see Alice in Wonderland once I get back - been listening to the pretty amazing soundtrack while here.

The Oscars is on Sunday evening! Which also means they’re broadcast here live on Monday morning, at half past eight, making them ideal to see :) Not sure what I think should win in any category, except of course Christoph Waltz for Best Supporting Actor.

The FXhome Awards 2010 are also coming up, and the nominations are currently underway! Planning to put together a topic on the forums for Campsite - hopefully I can get it nominated in some category - planning to market it for Best Cinematography or Best Special Effects! Will post more details here soon with a link to my topic, but until then, if you’re a member of FXhome, go over there and nominate Campsite! ;)

SpexArn is still on track for a late March release - the DVD begins printing late next week after a slight delay, which means it should be in everyone’s hands very shortly. The DVD print will be very limited - so make sure to reserve your copy (note that this is mainly open for people living in or near Malmö, Sweden as reservations are made locally at S:t Petri High School in Malmö)! If you’re not interested in the awesome special features or the spex show itself, the film will be released online soon as well.

Exposed is moving forward - I’ve written quite a bit of the screenplay now, and it’s turning out quite good if I say so, especially since it’s very different from what I’ve worked on before. Planning to set up that Facebook group for it soon, which will hold all the latest script and shooting information for the cast and crew. Also thinking about possibly shooting the first scene very soon - basically not for the entire film, but just as a test to see if I can pull off a dialouge-driven scene in Swedish without it feeling (too) awkward. Could be a good exercise to try out before tackling the entire film.

I’ve seen a few great films since I came to Thailand - among these Chopper and In the Name of the Father which were both - albeit very different from oneanother - fantastic character portrayals. Chopper is Eric Bana’s breakout role, in which he plays an Australian gangster. In the Name of the Father deals with the story of the Guildford Four - a very interesting, but horrific, story about government corruption and the imprisonment of innocent Irish people related to IRA bombings. If you haven’t seen them, they are truly fantastic films.

The FXhome film project, now titled Fracture, which I worked on during the summer of 2008 as a camera assistant, is nearing its premiere! It’s been quite a long time coming, but it looks really brilliant and the work put in to this film by everyone involved is just amazing. The film is set to premiere sometime in late April or early May - planning to go to the UK premiere, which will hopefully be filled with other FXhomers! See you there perhaps! ;) Check out the latest production diary from director Ashley Wing below, and see some of the amazing images from the film. As well as a picture of me wielding loads of guns. No comment.

That was pretty much all for this time. Check back soon for my thread on FXhome concerning nominating Campsite for the FXhome awards! Speak more soon, but until then, as always, take care!
