Dec 2009 11

So the day is finally here after months and months of hard work! My new film SpexArn premieres later today, at 19:00 (GMT +1) at S:t Petri high school where it will be shown to a pretty big audience in front of the comedy show – which me and crew member Johannes will shoot live on Saturday! Can’t wait to see and hear what people think of the film – so far the response has been very positive, but it will be interesting to see what people from outside the school think of it. Just to clarify, the film doesn’t premiere on the internet today unfortunately. At first it will be shown later this evening, then again tomorrow evening – the DVD and Blu-Ray of both the film and the show will then be created and sold throughout January in a quite limited number. After which, the film should premiere online for everyone to see late February.

I know I said I’d write up a small behind-the-scenes thingy and post it during the week – as you may have noticed, I didn’t. I did write the piece together, but then I thought it’d probably be smarter to post it after it’s shown today and on Saturday, so I won’t spoil the film for anyone seeing it.

Spent most of yesterday helping with rigging stuff for the show – compared to last year and Spex and the City when our gathering hall at the school wasn’t available. So instead of spending money on renting a large auditorium everything was spent on trying to make it a really cool experience in terms of sound and light. I took some photos of the rigging process and some behind-the-scenes stuff yesterday (and yes, it’s shot with my iPhone so the quality is not really that great).

Some better photos should be up after the show has been shot on Saturday – will also film some interviews before Saturday’s show – Johannes talked about possibly shooting some sort of timelapse using his DSLR during the show – it would be awesome, just have to check that it isn’t too distracting. If it turns out fine – which is probably will – I’ll be sure to post it here!

Oh, and my Redrock M2 Encore 35mm adapter arrived on Wednesday which means I’m now able to use my stills lenses when shooting video, which creates a really great look as you’ve seen in my test videos before. This new model is even brighter and has just half a stop of light loss, so can’t wait to just go out on the streets of Malmö and film stuff! Probably after SpexArn, though ;) . I took some photos of the final rig including the FollowFocus and LiveLens adapter also from Redrock – but I thought I’d take some pics with my DSLR later instead so it won’t look as crappy.

Quite excited about showing SpexArn later today, as you may have noticed. Managed to burn the film in 1080p on Blu-Ray and will show it from a PS3 and Full HD projector – along with the amazing sound system provided by the awesome crew from Highway it should turn out really cool. Well, got to get back to packing down all my gear and preparing for the upcoming premiere as well as the 3-camera shoot tomorrow!

Take care everyone and hopefully I’ll see you either tomorrow evening or later today :)

P.S. We still have a tiny tiny amount of tickets left which will be sold at the entrance at S:t Petri high school later this evening! Remember to be there early and on time to get the best seats – the doors open at 18:30, half-an-hour before the show starts!
