So, work continues on SpexArn which is getting closer and closer to its world premiere on December 11th and be shown on December 12th at the S:t Petri spex in Malmö. It’s been a fun production so far, but quite hectic –  it has consumed loads of time the last three weeks since it wrapped. But it’s over halfway done now, and hope goes out I’ll be able to finish it before next Monday, the 30th. Will post some images from the film soon over at its page, so keep your eyes peeled! The film when finished will round out at around 26-27 minutes, making it the longest production I’ve had so far, considering the total production time.

I have started to work and think about what I’ll do after SpexArn is finished – I’ve had my eyes on making either some sort of romantic drama – similar to the first half of Campsite, but without all the horror stuff ;) SpexArn really opened my eyes on dialogue-driven stories as I now have access to proper audio equipment (which is a godsend when editing) so I think it’d be fun to try something similar but probably in a shorter film – around 15 minutes or so. Also been speaking with friends considering shooting a new thriller sometime early next year. I have some ideas considering the story; should probably revolve around some kind of photographer. More details on that at a later stage of production though! I ordered a Redrock M2 Encore around two weeks ago – it’s a 35mm lens adapter, making it possible to use Canon EOS, Nikkor, Minolta and pretty much every lens brand available on my FX1 video camera. Did some shooting with it a while back and posted some videos, and the look of it is just brilliant – plus it will help me blend photography and filmmaking together! Speaking of photography, I’m thinking about revamping the gallery section of the website, somehow linking it to frejoni – mine, Fredrik’s and Johannes’ photography portfolio website, instead of posting galleries on this site which to be honest, is just too cumbersome to do easily. The simple nature of our separate photography website is the focus on a single image, instead of what I usually do (and still often do on Facebook): upload a huge album filled with more documentary-style photos instead of just a few images which I really think stand out.

Been watching quite a big bunch of films at the cinema lately, but due to SpexArn and studies I haven’t found time to write up proper reviews. I did see The Box the other week, directed by Richard Kelly (of Donnie Darko fame). I wasn’t really sure what to think of it – it wasn’t in any way a very good movie, but I can’t say it was extremely absymal either, as I feel there are some good ideas in it from a great director, just not executed very well. Some of the cinematography was brilliant, and overall it’s a pretty good-looking film and recommendable for aspiring DP:s. Although you should probably rent it. Saw VI fulfilled its purpose, keeping the franchise alive while introducing some grisly new ways to make people dissapear from this world. I thought it was a pretty good sequel, compared to at least the previous ones as it ties a lot of loose ends together. I feel they should probably stop soon though, or why not now – before all the plot twists get too ridiculous. But still, if you’re a horror fan, don’t miss out on it as director Kevin Gruert really helps create a cool and somewhat intelligent (I know I’m speaking of the Saw franchise) film. Not sure what to say about there being a Saw VII in 3d though, directed by David Hackl (who made the much worse Saw V). I will probably see it in cinemas anyway. Also saw 2012 last Saturday, the latest disaster movie by Roland Emmerich to hit the big screen. And it should be seen on a big-screen. Aside from some shoddy acting (kids are in it) , quite a bunch of unintentionally funny moments, a curiously hilariously placed giraffe and a really strange morale in the ending the film was a fun ride and pretty much the ultimate disaster film. And it felt like the most expensive film ever which was strange considering it’s “modest” budget of around $200 million.

Speak more to everyone very soon, take care!
