SpexArn images, ticket details and more!

Nils Croné | 30 November, 2009 | 11:13 pm

Just uploaded 14 images from my new comedy SpexArn, which was finished yesterday. Go check them out over at the film’s page if you’re interested! Postponing the behind-the-scenes write-up to later this week, probably towards the weekend at the latest due to me having to dive into writing an essay for school which is supposed to be handed in this upcoming Friday. But after that, it’s all good as I’ll have no homework or essays to do for at least two weeks after that.

I’ve also updated the website banner at the top of the page with 11 new banners featuring pics from SpexArn, including some pretty epic ones not available on the film’s page! Remember, it’s all in a random order so get working on that refresh button to see them all!

So now, ticket details - let’s say it only really makes sense to get tickets if you’re living in Sweden, and preferably close to Malmö. Tickets are currently being sold at S:t Petri Skola (S:t Petri high school) in Malmö by the spex comittee. There are two shows, one on Friday the 11th and one on Saturday the 12th - which really is the one to go to as we’ll be filming it live; using the same team as last year which is me and Johannes! Thinking about getting some more behind-the-scenes footage this year as well which should be fun.

Tickets sell for 100 SEK, or 150 SEK for VIP tickets - which are sold out for the Saturday show so far I believe. Basically, VIP tickets get you better seats, you get to skip the entire queue - preferably looking awesome while you do it, and you get led to your seats by good looking women. It’s pretty legit.

To get the usual 100 SEK tickets - which are also extremely awesome - you should head on over to S:t Petri high school as said earlier, but if you’re looking towards investing in VIP tickets you should head on over to the official SpexArn event page and message one of the officers of the group (excluding me) about tickets. Remember, do it fast though as they’re selling extremely fast!

Oh, went up early today to get my hands on tickets to the so-called Lucia Movie Night which is playing on the 12th at 23:30 to 07:00 the next morning at the local cinema here in Malmö. Basically, you get to watch three films throughout the night, neither of which are released yet. After sitting at home spamming the website along with a friend this morning we finally got our hands on some pretty cool tickets!

You might be thinking: “What was up with that extremely odd header image of this news post?” Well, I finished my (rather odd) FXhome holiday greeting short today. Here’s a pic from it:

I refuse to comment. ;) Will post the entire film once it hits the internet sometime late December. I seriously can’t believe it’s December tomorrow!

Well, speak more very very soon and take care everyone!

SpexArn completed and ready for release!

Nils Croné | | 2:25 am

So I just completed my latest comedy, “SpexArn” after only a month in post-production! It’s been a really fun but also very stressful ride to get finished. It’s way too late to write anything more coherent at this time-of-day, so expect a more fully-fledged minddump probably tomorrow evening once everything is rendered, burnt to DVD and compressed to various formats. Oh, and those pictures are still going up ;) Will have more time to actually promote the film now that I’ve finished it!

But speak more tomorrow - or well, later today! Take care everyone - can’t wait to show the film to all of you.

UPDATE: Ticket sales start November 30th (later today), so will include details on how to get tickets for the premiere in the upcoming post!

SpexArn approaching completion and premiere!

Nils Croné | 21 November, 2009 | 1:12 pm

So, work continues on SpexArn which is getting closer and closer to its world premiere on December 11th and be shown on December 12th at the S:t Petri spex in Malmö. It’s been a fun production so far, but quite hectic -  it has consumed loads of time the last three weeks since it wrapped. But it’s over halfway done now, and hope goes out I’ll be able to finish it before next Monday, the 30th. Will post some images from the film soon over at its page, so keep your eyes peeled! The film when finished will round out at around 26-27 minutes, making it the longest production I’ve had so far, considering the total production time.

I have started to work and think about what I’ll do after SpexArn is finished - I’ve had my eyes on making either some sort of romantic drama - similar to the first half of Campsite, but without all the horror stuff ;) SpexArn really opened my eyes on dialogue-driven stories as I now have access to proper audio equipment (which is a godsend when editing) so I think it’d be fun to try something similar but probably in a shorter film - around 15 minutes or so. Also been speaking with friends considering shooting a new thriller sometime early next year. I have some ideas considering the story; should probably revolve around some kind of photographer. More details on that at a later stage of production though! I ordered a Redrock M2 Encore around two weeks ago - it’s a 35mm lens adapter, making it possible to use Canon EOS, Nikkor, Minolta and pretty much every lens brand available on my FX1 video camera. Did some shooting with it a while back and posted some videos, and the look of it is just brilliant - plus it will help me blend photography and filmmaking together! Speaking of photography, I’m thinking about revamping the gallery section of the website, somehow linking it to frejoni - mine, Fredrik’s and Johannes’ photography portfolio website, instead of posting galleries on this site which to be honest, is just too cumbersome to do easily. The simple nature of our separate photography website is the focus on a single image, instead of what I usually do (and still often do on Facebook): upload a huge album filled with more documentary-style photos instead of just a few images which I really think stand out.

Been watching quite a big bunch of films at the cinema lately, but due to SpexArn and studies I haven’t found time to write up proper reviews. I did see The Box the other week, directed by Richard Kelly (of Donnie Darko fame). I wasn’t really sure what to think of it - it wasn’t in any way a very good movie, but I can’t say it was extremely absymal either, as I feel there are some good ideas in it from a great director, just not executed very well. Some of the cinematography was brilliant, and overall it’s a pretty good-looking film and recommendable for aspiring DP:s. Although you should probably rent it. Saw VI fulfilled its purpose, keeping the franchise alive while introducing some grisly new ways to make people dissapear from this world. I thought it was a pretty good sequel, compared to at least the previous ones as it ties a lot of loose ends together. I feel they should probably stop soon though, or why not now - before all the plot twists get too ridiculous. But still, if you’re a horror fan, don’t miss out on it as director Kevin Gruert really helps create a cool and somewhat intelligent (I know I’m speaking of the Saw franchise) film. Not sure what to say about there being a Saw VII in 3d though, directed by David Hackl (who made the much worse Saw V). I will probably see it in cinemas anyway. Also saw 2012 last Saturday, the latest disaster movie by Roland Emmerich to hit the big screen. And it should be seen on a big-screen. Aside from some shoddy acting (kids are in it) , quite a bunch of unintentionally funny moments, a curiously hilariously placed giraffe and a really strange morale in the ending the film was a fun ride and pretty much the ultimate disaster film. And it felt like the most expensive film ever which was strange considering it’s “modest” budget of around $200 million.

Speak more to everyone very soon, take care!
