Back from another relaxing weekend on the countryside just to remember how I have a free day from school tomorrow. Well, I guess it’s just as good – getting ready for my second attempt at scoring my driver’s license tomorrow – hopefully it turns out ok this time around – if not, I’m not really in a hurry as I don’t really have a proper use for it at the moment (but it’d be great to have, to have that thing crossed off my list).

I haven’t really worked much more on Campsite – rendered a new version of it a few days ago featuring some more music and a few refined scenes from a sound effects perspective.

I’ve seen two films this last weekend (although planning to see one later today as well due to the mentioned free day tomorrow): Kiss the Girls starring Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd as well as Everything is Illuminated starring Elijah Wood. I really liked Kiss the Girls, thought it was a great thriller with a pretty unexpected plot twist at the end – although based on the film’s beginning, it’s a bit of a letdown to be honest. I’d recommend it to any fan of the thriller genre – although there are plenty of films similar to this one which are better. Having read the novel behind the story, I was interested in seeing Everything is Illuminated – I thought it’d be fun how director Lieb Schrieber pulled off the pretty visual novel on the big screen, and I must say I thought it worked pretty flawlessly. Save from a few memorable passages in the book which are unfortunately not in the film (probably due it being americanized, and therfor removing any blashpemious things such as references to sex), the book overall works great as a film and I enjoyed it. I’m pretty sure it’s not for everyone though, and especially a few of my high concept-loving friends wouldn’t find any enjoyment in seeing it at all, I reckon. But if you see it, give it a chance and rent it!

Also bought Killzone 2 yesterday – while I haven’t found the time to play it a lot, I did run through at least the first two hours of it yesterday evening on the countryside; it’s seriously amazing. While I’m pretty sure the story isn’t what you’d call cream-of-the-crop, that’s hardly why anyone would play this game. The graphics, sound and gameplay are probably the best of any console FPS I’ve played in some time – but words are hardly enough – I decided to film a small segment of me playing it on the countryside using my mobile phone and upload it here. Check the clip out below to get a taste for just how crazy and hectic this game really is (oh, and I know – this is a pretty sorry excuse for my test at uploading small Vimeo video clips to news posts ;) ):

Yes, it’s pretty awesome. Oh, and I apologize for the incredibly lousy quality of the above clip, my mobile phone isn’t really the optimal video-capturing device.

I guess I won’t have to say there might be a few more news posts including video from Vimeo in the very near future ;)

Until next time, take care everyone :)
