Long time no see, been away on the countryside for a week where I basically relaxed but also did some pretty cool filmmaking- and gamingrelated stuff – will tell you all about it right here!
First off, my next project’s script is completely done. The working title for it at the moment is “Campsite”, and it’s my horror film project of the year which I will start filming late July. Sat around and finally finished the script starting last Saturday and finishing this Tuesday. It became pretty cool, and it’s definitely a step up from any stories I’ve been involed with before – to put it another way, it’s much more complex. The final screenplay clocked in at roughly 40 pages, by far the longest screenplay I’ve written so far. Added the film to the movies section of the website, with some story info. Sat around all day today to finish a folder containing the script and some other stuff which I will hand out to potential cast and crew members either by hand today or by mail – note that this is for the main production crew only, and people involved with the post-production process will recieve notification later! For a small sneak peak of how this introduction folder looks, check out this picture!
Our family kind of “fake-celebrated” my birthday last Sunday (I’m in UK the 29th for some work, more on that further down though) so got some really cool DVDs. Mostly B-flicks and horror films, which is always fun to watch
I did get “30 Days of Night” on Blu-Ray (a vampire film starring Josh Hartnett of Lucky Number S7evin” fame), and I kinda liked it for what it was. It had a few scary parts and loads of gore. Can’t really ask for more from a film which has the line “That cold you’re feeling ain’t the weather. That’s death approaching.”
Going to go see “The Mist” later today, as it just premiered – unsurprisingly 8 months after it’s U.S. release – here in Sweden. Was picking between this and “The Incredible Hulk” but decided to go with this one, mostly because I want to go see “Hulk” with a couple of friends
Saturday’s a pretty awesome day. Will be travelling to the UK to go meet the FXhome team in Norwich, as well as Ashley Wing and a bunch of other people. Will stay there for a week and work as camera assistant on the FXhome 2008 Film Project. Should be a lot of fun – stay tuned to the FXhome.com news page for the latest info.
Got and bought myself the PS3 game “Metal Gear Solid 4″ last Monday. I havn’t really got around to play it a lot yet, but from what I’ve seen so far it’s very, very impressive. Many people complain about the lengthy cutscenes featured in the game, but they haven’t bothered me in any way so far, to be honest.
Spent last week’s Tuesday with Johannes and Mahdi, recording our very first podcast (kind of like a radio show, but on the internet). Won’t post it here for a couple of reasons: it’s very strange and it’s in Swedish. We basically talk concerning loads of news in gadgets, films and gaming.
These first weeks of summer vacation has almost been as mentally straining as the last weeks in school were (well, almost) for a variety of reasons, particularly my need to get the script for “Campsite” done. Well, everything is now on track! Expect more frequent updates from now on
It’s really nice to finally have some free time! I ordered and got my copy of Adobe’s Production Premium package the other day. Bought it on student discount, which cut the price of the package with about 80%. So I’ve been working some stuff, mostly in After Effects and in Photoshop – been a while since I used either of the two programs since my move to the Mac platform.
I figured my logo’s intro animation is starting to show it’s age so I decided to try and redo it – it will be “officially” featured at the beginnning of my next short film, but I figured I could show it to you anyway. It’s a bit more 3d-like and should look a bit more clean in HD now, as it’s all based on vector graphics (Adobe Illustrator rocks!). Anyway, check it out right here:

Also tried some stuff and tutorials from my good friend Andrew Kramer over at Video Co-Pilot. This is basically just a small title animation, but thought it became pretty spiffy:

I also got hired by a company called “Emerest” to create a corporate logo for them – worked on that pretty much entire yesterday, and I became quite happy with the result.
The story for my Halloween film project is all done, and the script is close to being finished – I’m guessing I should have a final version of it late next week! ![]()
Stay tuned for more info on the Halloween film and maybe some more effects and design tests very soon!
Finally! Summer break has officially started today, and I’m now free from school for the upcoming 9 weeks, which is really fun!
I saw “Speed Racer” three days ago, and I must say I really enjoyed it – it was by far one of the better films so far this year! The trip to Gothenburg was fun, and me and Johannes talked about the Halloween film project, which I’m going to start writing today!
I’m a bit tired to be honest, it feels like this year at school was (quite logically) the most demanding ever – with loads of my free time just going out the window. If you’ll excuse me, I’m just going to lie down now and take a nap – I think I’ve deserved it
Well, turned out our neighbor was gone for the weekend so I couldn’ get hold of his WiFi. Not really anything to be angry about, I guess…well, currently packing for my trip to Gothenburg and the amusement park there! Should be a fun introduction to summer break – I will take some pictures, but I’m still trying to figure out a way on how to more easily post them embedded with my other news posts – maybe there’s some way to automatically upload them?
We’ll be leaving a bit later than we usually do – we should be all set in the hotel at about 20.00, which gives us one hour before we’re going to Sweden’s most modern theatre to watch “Speed Racer” – I’m pretty sure it’s going to be incredible!
Until next time, take care everyone!
It really feels like it’s summer now, even if it’s still – as I said a few days ago – one day left. Spent the day on the beach hanging out with friends and not trying to die from third-degree burns… How come it’s always too hot in the sun and too cold in the water? Anyway, feels like this summer is shaping up to be pretty good!
Oh, and I also had my second attempt at riding a unicycle – I did promise a friend that I’d learn how to ride it before school ends. It was pretty fun though, except for the massive amounts of pain as I constantly fell off.
Been reading books I bought with tutorials for the Final Cut suite – I’ve read through the first one with basic editing commands and such, and I’m now deep into the second one which is based around the motion graphics software, “Motion”. It’s pretty difficult – especially with a swedish keyboard, but it’s fun and it feels as if I’m learning something from it every page.
Going to the countryside tomorrow – you might hear from me tomorrow if I happen to come across our neighbour’s WiFi again.
