It’s December, everyone! Less than one month until we’re all in 2008!
Again, I must apologize for the lack of updates recently. I’ve been cought up in loads of homework and tests at school, and unfortunantly it looks like the upcoming weeks are going to be almost the same, although come to think of it, not as intense – so I will probably have opportunities to update the website!
Let’s start off with my new film called “Zombie Exterminator” – an action-comedy featuring a bunch of crazy and wild characters. As I’ve said before, I’m making this with a couple of friends at and for school. At first we had planned to make the film quite long, quite a bit over 20 minutes to be exact. We were then faced by the deadline approaching rapidly, so we trimmed the
script down a bit and it should now be about half the length, and hopefully also with some better pacing. Last Tuesday we shot the first scene, which I roughly cut together the next day for preview to a couple of friends both at FXhome.com and in school. Got relatively positive response from it, so I’m going to create a tighter edit for the scene once everything is filmed and we can actually start a more precise and concentrated post-production process. Today we shot the first scene featuring a latex zombie mask some of my friends had made. The scene took place at a road diner (called “Kungsparkens Kök”) and was a lot of fun to shoot. Special thanks goes to the guy who worked there and let us film our pretty crazy movie there. He was really interested in what we were making and helped us out with loads of stuff such as allowing us to film from the other side of the counter and whatnot. I guess this was really the first really comedic scene we shot. Hopefully you’ll like it once it’s all done and premieres here sometime in February! As we’re going to shoot another scene later today I thought it’d be better to wait in posting the first real pictures from the film, as I want to show you at least three different scenes so you’ll get a better idea of what’s in the movie. So new pictures and also a real synopsis should be up late Monday/early Tuesday!
As you might have guessed, both “Connected” and “Derby” are going to be a bit delayed, since I’m currently focusing all my attention on finishing “Zombie Exterminator”. After it’s done though, I’m going to focus all my attention on “Connected”, with “Derby” following shortly therafter. Going to start writing the script for “Debry” soon with the help from a few friends in school and hopefully also from FXhome.com!
I havn’t really seen any new films the last week, as I’ve been all to busy studying for various tests at school. Although one cool thing I did last weekend was to start re-building my room to feature a projector instead of the TV, creating a 104″ image on a nearby screen I bought the other day. I’m pretty sure it’s going to look quite crazy, and I will post some pictures closer to
christmas when it should be finished. I’m currently trying to finish watching an old “CSI Las Vegas” which apparently I hadn’t finished before. The episodes are only about 40 minutes, which is better than a film when you’ve got lots of stuff to do (as I hate watching films in parts, i.e. half one day and the rest another day). I’m pretty sure it could be quite cool and interesting to try it out, even if I’m sure they have to rush most of the shots, which could result in some pretty bad focus in a few shots. That’s not anything I’d want to do for at least a couple of years, but as I said, I think it could be pretty fun!
If you’re into video games, and are reading your latest news using an RSS reader or something along the similar lines, you might have heard of the story of GameSpot.com (a website I though
rocked, although not anymore) firing their top reviewer and critic, Jeff Gerstmann. Basically, not all the details of his termination are currently available, but it looks like he was fired over giving “Kane & Lynch: Dead Men” a bad review score of 6 out of 10. This was apperantly based on the fact that the producing company behind “Kane & Lynch” (Eidos Interactive) had paid GameSpot.com (or it’s owning company. Cnet Networks) a large sum of cash for advertising all over GameSpot.com, and that they were not happy with the score given the game by Jeff, therefor Eidos threatened to take away their advertising contract, or to force Gerstmann away from his job. If indeed GameSpot.com chose the latter and everything is at it seems, then truly this is a very strange and odd story. Can you really fire someone for expressing their opinion when they are a critic? Make no mistake, I’m pretty sure GameSpot.com will be a more boring place now that both Rich Gallup (who left earlier this year to spend more time with his family) and Jeff Gerstmann are gone. I’ll definently keep you updated concerning this! If anyone’s interested, here’s the video review that apperantly got Gerstmann fired (it has later been taken down from the famous website):
Kane & Lynch Video Review by Jeff Gerstmann
That’s pretty much all I had for you guys (and girls, of course) today, but keep checking back for new images from “Zombie Exterminator”! Also, let me know (either by commenting or sending an e-mail) what you thought of this new layout I have for the news, featuring more images!
Take care!
