Showdown and Playstation 3!

Nils Croné | 29 March, 2007 | 2:34 pm

Since I couldn’t think of a spiffy title to put on this text, I decided just to go with the obvious one, which describes perfectly what this text will be about. Well, so I guess I’ll stop describing the dull subject line, and just get to the point.

With one scene completed for Showdown, the movie’s production process has “officially” started. The scene we shot is actually the first scene in the film, and it looks great as it is now, with sound added (music being the last thing I’m going to work on, since I’ve got some special plans for that). Me and Nils B are going to shoot a second scene during easter break, which starts tomorrow, and goes on all the way until Tuesday the 10th. The scene we are going to shoot is actually the second scene from the movie (I mean in chronological order) which is going to take place somewhere completely different, if you compare the scene to the outdoor scene we shot earlier this year. It’s a pretty dialouge heavy scene, so it will probably be interesting to both shoot. I know where we are going to film the scene, and exactly how we are going to light it, so that it looks different and cool. Another role of the main cast was chosen a few weeks ago, and Alexander Kronqvist (he was in Weird Gunfight, playing Big Mac) has joined as one of the main characters. We’ll see if we have the time to film a scene with him too, but because of time constraints, it might not happen during easter. The script is currently close to being 30% done, and if I may say so myself it’s at least the best script I’ve ever written. Pics will appear early the week after easter with some shots from the shot scenes of the movie, as well as some new poster art, which me and Nils B are working on at the moment.

So, I got my long-awaited Playstation 3 last friday! I ordered it from Discshop.se, and it arrived last friday for me to pick up in a store. So, me and my dad walked over there to get the package, we got it, but there was a slight problem. The box felt very, very light, so we opened it at the store just to see that nothing was wrong. And someone had stolen the PS3 from the box, probably at the place where they packed the box down into a cardboard box to improve shipping ability. Well, we were lucky to open the box in-store, so we got all our money back. We went to the nearest gaming store, and bought one there. We were indeed lucky, since the store sold out on all it’s systems the day after. The day before I got my PS3, I recieved Motorstorm (a game) which I played pretty much. Then, just this Monday, I recieved another controller as well as two other games, Resistance and Virtua Fighter 5. They’re both great games, and they’re a bunch of fun :) . So, what do I think about the PS3 in general? I think it’s really awesome, that’s what I think! Well, here is a link to some photos I posted of the PS3 “in action”.

Also, I edited the gallery a bit, and it should now be easier to browse through. Check it out in the gallery section!

NY Video Diaries slightly postponed…

Nils Croné | 25 March, 2007 | 5:03 pm

Hey everyone! I’ve been on the countryside all this weekend so unfortunantly I have had no time to finish the fourth part of the New York Video Diaries. And next weekend I’ll be in Switzerland for the Nightcast premiere (wohoo) so I won’t be able to put another part up on the website that weekend either. Although, here are the good news! The sunday after that (the 8th) all the last 3 parts of the diary will go up! So that’s about 40-50 min of New York in one day!

Stay tuned on the website the upcoming week for some really, really neat stuff about both Showdown, and the Playstation 3.

NY Video Diaries - Part 3 now available!

Nils Croné | 19 March, 2007 | 9:09 pm

The 3rd part of my New York video diaries is finally up on the website! In this episode we’re going around the city, checking out various places, such as Times Square, Virgin Megastore, Toys R’ Us and much more…

I’m sorry it got delayed over a day, but the next one will be released as promised on sunday. Anyway, this is the longest part of the video diaries yet, and it is pretty big in terms of filesize (104 Mb). Anyway, the link is available on the NY Video Diaries page, so go check it out right now!

(Comments on the movie’s page, please.)

Thunder - Flash

Nils Croné | 17 March, 2007 | 12:48 am

Puh! I can finally relax and enjoy the upcoming weekend, after studying like a madman for my spanish test which I had yesterday (Friday). So, what have I been working on for the last couple of weeks. Well, first I’m going to finish the New York video diaries, which have been a long time in the making (stay tuned tomorrow for the release of the 3rd part) and I’m glad to finally be able to complete it, and then move on, and completely shift my focus to Showdown, my big project for this year. The script is evolving fairly quickly, and I think I’m already up to about 8 or 9 scenes. I’m afraid I still can’t give you any more details on the story, but I can say that most of the main cast (4 or 5 characters) have been cast, and there are only one or two really big roles to assign to a person. Of course, there are a lot of other smaller roles too, but it’s great to finally have chosen a few good acting friends for the key roles.

The first scene is basically completed, I just have to render some grading and effects for it, and then it’s all done. We are going to film a few new scenes during our easter break (in 2 weeks) and I have started to look around for locations to shoot at. Hopefully they are going to be just as good as the first scene (which completed, looks pretty much better to anything I’d imagined) and a blast to film. More on that later though.

About two weeks ago I got my first 5 Blu-Ray tmovies, in anticipation of the Playstation 3, which I’ll be getting when it launches next friday. Expect a few photos and perhaps even a video of how I think it is. I ordered a couple of games as well, of course :P

So, what about school? Yeah, right now it’s pretty hard to film stuff and do well in school. Since the school (I’ll admit right now, I’ve been to better…class is fantastic though) isn’t that good at laying out “test tactics” almost all of our tests happen in the exact same timeframe, which I’m in right now. So, for the spanish test I had to study close to 4 hours every day Monday thru Wednesday, and on Thursday I basically sat down and worked for pretty much the whole day. We also had a swedish exam earlier this week, where we had to write a small argumental text about a subject which we got to choose from a list. I chose to be against pirated/illegal downloading, which was actually more controversial than I first thought. I guess I did pretty good on that test, but as always with teachers, you never really know, do you? Going to continue my studies on Sunday this weekend, since we have both a math and a biology test next week. Argh!

Although, not everything is overly depressing ;D. I have seen quite a few really good movies this week. The overall favorite was with no doubt “The Prestige”, the story about two illusionists/stage magicians who are friends at first, then slowly becomes rivalries. It is very good acted and very good in the cinematography category (it didn’t get an Oscar Nomination for exactly that for nothing). This movie reminded me of why I love movies, and why I appreciate them so much (it’s not a boring costume drama like Johannes says it is at all). Which I guess, pretty much means I will love “Grindhouse” by Rodriguez and Tarantino when it’s released later this year. Speaking of which, “Grindhouse” will not be a single movie outside the US. Yeah, the movie which has been marketed as being two full-length movies with fake trailers in between for the price of one ticket is getting split up in Europe. Why? They say is because we can’t refer to the Grindhouse motto and feel. Well, we’ve had drive-in cinemas in Sweden too? Nah, it’s probably just a way for the Weinstein Company to make even more money than they already have.

Less than two weeks before I go to Switzerland to see “Nightcast” on the big screen in it’s world premiere. I’m sure it’s going to be really good, and it will be a lot of fun to meet some of the people which I’ve talked to for the last 4 years on FXhome, but never actually met in real life.

Check out FXhome.com on the 20th March for the world online premiere of the movie “Between The Lines”, which I did pretty much digital grading work on. Look out for my name in the end credits!

So, keep your eyes peeled on the website at around 1800 CET (GMT +1) tomorrow for the release of the third part in my New York diary series. This one will also probably be the longest one of them, clocking in at just under 17 minutes (which, in a way, means it’s also the longest movie I’ve ever made!!)
